“While Northern Israel suffered disorder in the midst of revolution and apostasy, Southern Judah enjoyed an era of security. After the 41-year reign of Asa, Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king and reigned 25 years. Jehoshaphat lived before God, and once again led Judah toward a golden era. Meanwhile, in Northern Israel, Ahab’s son Ahaziah became king and incurred God’s wrath by walking in the way of his father Ahab, the way of his mother Jezebel, and the way of Jeroboam.”
“Their relationship with God was the only standard by which their lives were measured. Our lives today must also be judged by no other standard than that of our relationship with God.”
