경향신문은 사석에서 나온 개인 발언이란 점을 감안하더라도 교육정책을 총괄하는 고위 간부의 비뚤어진 인식, 문제 발언을 철회하거나 해명하지 않은 점을 들어 대화 내용을 공개하기로 했다.
교육부 나향욱 정책기획관(47)이 “민중은 개·돼지와 같다”며 “(우리나라도) 신분제를 정했으면 좋겠다”고 말했다. 지난 7일 저녁 서울 종로의 한 식당에서 경향신문 정책사회부장, 교육부 출입기자와 저녁을 함께하는 자리에서였다. 자리에는 교육부 대변인, 대외협력실 과장이 동석했다.
나 기획관은 8일 저녁 대변인과 함께 경향신문 편집국을 찾아와 “과음과 과로가 겹쳐 본의 아니게 표현이 거칠게 나간 것 같다. 실언을 했고, 사과드린다”고 말했다.
The advice needed is stylistic, not grammatical. The problem with the “short passive” is that it can be incomplete: where full information is important, the real advice should be “include all needed information” rather than “never use the passive.”
